CBE Faculty Member/Alumnus Receives 2014 Science and Engineering Alumni Award for Outstanding Achievement | July 2014
The Science and Engineering Outstanding Alumni Award is the highest form of alumni recognition given by the School of Science and Engineering. The recipient is defined as: "One singularly successful individual who, through exemplary accomplishments and recognition, epitomizes the potential of a Tulane education and thereby brings credit and honor to the School and University".
Vic Law graduated from Tulane in 1960 with a degree in chemical engineering and will celebrate his 52nd year on the faculty in the fall of 2014. During his tenure at Tulane, Law became fascinated with computers, and his research focused on the use of computers for process control and stimulation. His research has focused on fundamental chemical engineering concepts with applications to environmental issues including coastal erosion and butanol production from biomass, and he has authored three textbooks about computers and chemical engineering. Law recognized how important a role Tulane played in his life and work, stating, "Outside of my wife and family, Tulane is my love."
