Students with a strong academic background and a serious interest in scientific research are encouraged to apply for admission to the Combined Degree Program. Students with undergraduate degrees in other engineering disciplines or the sciences (e.g., biomedical engineering and biochemistry) are encouraged to apply. (In such cases, additional undergraduate courses in chemical engineering are normally required to make up deficiencies.) Every applicant is expected to take the GRE General Test. The TOEFL examination is required for students whose native language is not English.
Applications for the fall semester should be received by December 31st, if at all possible. Students interested in starting in the spring semester should submit their applications by October 15th. Although we encourage applicants to adhere to these deadlines, applications that are received after the deadlines will be considered as long as admission slots are unfilled.
Applicants must satisfy the admission requirements of both the Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Department and Biomedical Sciences Graduate Program. Apply using the online application website for the Tulane University Graduate Programs. In the application, specify the department as Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering, and indicate an interest in the Combined Degree Program in the personal statement.
