$65 per person
We will meet at Hotel Monteleone at 1 PM for the bus ride to the swamp on Tuesday the 12th of July. The excursion will take ca. 4 hours round trip and explores the magnificent and iconic bayous and swamps that serve as a stark contrast to the manmade structures and streets of New Orleans. The 20,000 acre cypress swamp is only 45 minutes from the Quarter, yet you can experience life in the bayou, and see alligators, birds, and many other wildlife. This is a great experience for young children and adults alike. The excursion can be booked during the registration process. Note that it will be possible to book for guests to join you on the excursion. For more details about this swamp tour, check out the Airboat Adventures website.
Lucky Bean French Quarter Walking Tour
$15 per person
For this excursion, we will meet at the Hotel Monteleone at 2 PM on Tuesday the 12th of July for a 2 hour walking tour around New Orleans iconic French Quarter. The city of New Orleans was first built in the French Quarter (by the French in 1718). Napoleon sold the quarter to the US in 1803, and the Quarter has been a melting pot with Spanish and Caribbean influences ever since. Importantly, it is a rare example of a historic, yet living and thriving neighborhood within the US, with its singular style and culture. The guided tour will feature a knowledgeable guide who will take you around historic buildings, narrow pathways, and charming businesses, and will explain some of the triumphant, tragic, and mesmerizing events (and characters) that make the French Quarter. The excursion can be booked during the registration process. Note that it will be possible to book for guests to join you on the excursion. For more information about this walking tour, check out the Lucky Bean Tours website.
