Vision

The Department of Cell and Molecular Biology is committed to achieving excellence in teaching and research.

These two missions of the department — teaching and research — are highly intertwined. The department will continue to offer the highest quality of teaching to its students and prepare them for the rapid advances, as well as the long-term trends, in the fields of developmental biology and neuroscience. The department will preserve its research strengths in developmental biology and neuroscience; and in the future, will strengthen its research and teaching focus to include regeneration medicine and neuroplasticity by increasing recruitment counts of new faculty.

The department envisions its students to serve the community through service learning projects that provide support services in clinics, hospitals and non-profit organizations. With the successful integration of teaching, research and community engagement, the department will prepare its students for the challenges of the ever changing biomedical environment.
