B.S. in Geology

The major in geology provides students with an understanding of the materials that make up the Earth, the history of the Earth, and physical, chemical, and biological processes that have operated on and within the Earth throughout its history.

Course Requirements for the Geology Major 

EENS courses (six courses)
EENS 1110/1115 – Planet Earth
EENS 1120/1125 – Earth & Life Through Time
EENS 3060 – Earth Materials 
EENS 3270 -- Sedimentation & Stratigraphy
EENS 3410 – Structural Geology 
EENS 3990 – Field Camp

Courses Required outside EENS (five courses)
MATH 1210 - Calculus I (MATH 1310 Consolidated Calculus may be taken instead of MATH 1210/1220)
MATH 1220 - Calculus II (MATH 1310 Consolidated Calculus may be taken instead of MATH 1210/1220)
CHEM 1070 - General Chemistry I with CHEM 1075 General Chemistry Laboratory I
CHEM 1080 - General Chemistry II with CHEM 1085 General Chemistry Laboratory II
PHYS 1310 - General Physics I with PHYS 1311 General Physics Laboratory (PHYS 1210/1220 will satisfy this requirement)
PHYS 1320 - General Physics II with PHYS 1321 General Physics Laboratory (PHYS1220/1221 will satisfy this requirement)

Electives (four courses)
Any four EENS courses at or above 2000-level with a minimum of two electives at the 3000-4000 level. COLQ 4120 - The Grand Canyon - is also an approved elective.

Course Requirements for the Geology Minor
EENS 1110/1115 – Planet Earth
EENS 3060 – Earth Materials 
Any three EENS electives at or above 2000-level with a minimum of two electives at the 3000-4000 level.
