(Note: The Tulane Earth & Environmental Sciences department launched this new unified minor in Spring 2023. Both the previously offered Environmental Earth Science minor and the previously offered Geology minor are no longer offered to incoming students as of Fall 2023.)
The Earth and Environmental Sciences minor provides a broad overview of basic geoscience concepts that may be beneficial to students with majors or interests in the following: anthropology, business, chemistry, communications, ecology and evolution, economics, K-12 education, environmental law, environmental studies, history, public health, physics, political science, or other liberal arts or science and engineering fields.
Course Requirements for the Earth and Environmental Sciences Minor
One introductory course
Any introductory EENS course with lab (e.g., EENS 1110/1115, EENS 1300/1305, EENS 2220/2225, or any new 1000-level topical course with lab).
One core course
Any one of the following courses: Shaping the Earth’s surface (EENS 2090), Dynamic Earth (EENS 2100), Building a Habitable Planet (EENS 2110), or Climate and Extinction (EENS 2120).
Four elective courses
Any 2000-level or above EENS course. At least one course must be 3000-level or above.
