The Department of Earth & Environmental Sciences offers the following:
- Courses ranging from topics such as Mineralogy, Paleontology, Planetary Science, and Volcanology to courses on the coastal environment, geohazards, river systems, climate change, and many more.
- Trips to local, regional and international field areas that provide on-site enhanced learning of skills and concepts.
- Field seminar courses include the annual Grand Canyon Colloquium and raft trip, and our course and fieldtrip to Death Valley National Park.
- Undergraduate research opportunities, which may accrue course credit and/or may be part of a Grand Challenges or Honors thesis.
- Laboratory, computer facilities field equipment with the latest technologies that support both hands-on coursework and undergraduate research.
- Opportunities for GIS certification and training for career paths in the energy industry, environmental and coastal geoscience consulting, and governmental research labs and agencies.
