My Research

I use cosmogenic nuclide dating to answer questions about the tectonic, geomorphic and climatic history of both the Alaska Range and the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains. The majority of my research focuses on the Nenana River Valley in the northern foothills of the Alaska Range, where I am creating a surficial map as part of the US Geological Survey’s EDMAP program. For this project, I identify glacial deposits using a combination of field observations, digital elevation maps and aerial photography, then I date them using 14C and 10Be surface exposure dating. This technique allows me to tease apart the complex glacial history of the region.
