Two Tulane Students Win '26 Goldwater Scholarships

 

Newcomb-Tulane College is proud to have two students receive the prestigious Goldwater Scholarship. Auto Breaux, a junior double-majoring in physics and mathematics, and Trishita Paul, a sophomore biomedical engineering major with a public health minor, were recently awarded the scholarship for their impressive academic accomplishments and research activities.

Three Tulane Faculty Members Win Prestigious NSF CAREER Awards

 

Tulane University is celebrating a major milestone as three of its faculty members have been named recipients of the highly competitive National Science Foundation (NSF) CAREER Award. Mark Mondrinos (Biomedical Engineering), Samuel Punshon-Smith (Mathematics), and Alex McSkimming (Chemistry) each earned the honor for projects that push the boundaries of scientific understanding while advancing education and outreach in their respective fields.

Tulane faculty to be honored with 2024 university-wide teaching awards

Tulane University will honor dedicated faculty members with university-wide teaching awards during the Unified Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 18, 2024. These awards include the Tulane President’s Awards for Excellence in Professional and Graduate Teaching, the Suzanne and Stephen Weiss Presidential Fellowship for Undergraduate Education and the Oliver Fund Award for Excellence in Faculty Mentoring.

Tulane mathematician named 2024 Sloan Foundation research fellow

A Tulane University mathematician working to understand fluid mechanics has been named an Alfred P. Sloan Foundation research fellow, one of the most prestigious awards available to young researchers.

The foundation recognizes exceptional early career researchers from across the U.S. and Canada whose creativity, innovation and research accomplishments make them stand out as the next-generation leaders.

Renowned Tulane professor elected to National Academy of Sciences

Lisa Fauci, a professor of mathematics at Tulane University, has been elected to the prestigious National Academy of Sciences in recognition of her distinguished and continuing achievements in original research.

Mahir Bilen Can, Ph.D. Fulbright Award Grantee

Mahir Bilen Can, Ph.D., is a Full Professor of Mathematics at Tulane University. He received his B.Sc. degree from Middle East Technical University in 2001 and completed his Ph.D. at the University of Pennsylvania in 2006. Can has published 50+ research papers in esteemed mathematics journals and edited two books. He serves on the editorial boards of Semigroup Forum and the Journal of Gökova Geometry Topology. Can has mentored several Ph.D. and Master’s students. He has organized numerous conferences and delivered lectures at prestigious institutions worldwide.

The Tulane School of Science and Engineering celebrates the accomplishments of Science and Engineering Faculty and Staff each spring. This year, awards were presented on Tuesday, May 2 at the Audubon Tea Room. Congratulations to all the recipients!

Twenty students from the Newcomb-Tulane College Class of 2022 were awarded membership to the William Wallace Peery Society, the university's top academic honor for undergraduates. It recognizes exceptional seniors who represent the top 1% of their graduating class for academic achievement.

Tulane math professor receives international research award

Tulane University math professor Lisa Fauci has won a prestigious research grant from the International Human Frontier Science Program Organization (HFSPO),a non-profit organization, based in Strasbourg, France, that funds basic research in life sciences.
