In consultation with the Department Chair, the Dean will appoint research track faculty as Research Assistant Professor or Research Professor. Research Professor typically is reserved for primary investigators with independent federal funding (or equivalent) and/or who have achieved tenure or equivalent at a comparable institution. There are no promotions within the research track. The title Research Associate Professor will not be used for future appointments, although individuals holding that title are grand-parented into it for the duration of their appointment.
