Stephen M. McCollam

Stephen McCollamStephen M. McCollam, MD, joined Peachtree Orthopaedic Clinic in 1988. Dr. McCollam serves as President of POC and has been named one of the top hand orthopaedic surgeons in Atlanta in 2010, 2011 and 2012, with Dr. McCollam's specialty being upper extremity surgery. He is listed among the top 45 hand and upper extremity surgeons in the U.S.

Dr. McCollam is a New Orleans native who earned his BA (cum laude) from Tulane University in 1978 and his MD from Tulane with honors in 1982. He completed his orthopaedic training at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He also completed extensive training in hand and microsurgery, as evidenced by his Fellowship at Indiana University/St. Vincent's Hospital in Indianapolis. Dr. McCollam was an AO International Upper Extremity Fellow at the University of Bern in Switzerland. He is the past Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedics for Piedmont Hospital and a past member of the Board of Directors having served for six years. He is the past president of the Georgia Orthopaedic Society. Dr. McCollam is also a past President of the Georgia Society for Surgery of the Hand. He also served as an oral examiner for the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is currently a reviewer for the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery. In addition, Dr. McCollam serves on the Board of Councilors of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is Chairman of its Committee on Regulatory and Legislative Affairs. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and earned a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Hand Surgery. Dr. McCollam volunteers his time at the Hospital Albert Schweitzer in Haiti and has done so since 1990.
