  • International applicants must submit TOEFL scores unless they have received a degree from an English-speaking institution.
  • All letters of recommendation must be on an institutional letterhead, signed, and provided with an institutional email address.

For more information, download our Student Handbook.

Application deadlines and requirements for specific degree programs are included below:

Master of Science (Non-Thesis or with Thesis)

  • A conventional non-thesis MS is available to students with bachelor’s degrees outside of Tulane BME. The thesis MS is typically available only by special arrangement.
  • Applications deadlines are May 1 for the following fall semester, and September 1 for the spring semester.
  • Complete applications will require transcripts; a personal statement indicating background, motivation and interest in the program, and career aspirations; and three academic and/or professional recommendations.

4+1 Master of Science (Non-Thesis or with Thesis)

  • Full application submission is open October 1 with final deadline May 1. Reviews will be conducted on a rolling basis.
  • Complete applications will require transcripts; a personal statement indicating motivation and interest in the program, current research to be extended (for thesis option), and career aspirations; along with two recommendations or one recommendation from a full-time Tulane BME faculty member.

Doctor of Philosophy

  • Application deadline is January 5 for the following fall semester. Admission in the spring semester generally requires an approved prior arrangement, and so applications are accepted on a case-by-case basis.
