Application Requirements

Students in our graduate programs typically majored in mathematics or a related science, such as engineering or physics. If you lack a strong foundation in math, you may still qualify for our program; all incoming graduate students work with faculty to determine if additional background courses should be taken.

• An undergraduate GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is normally required. In accordance with School of Science and Engineering policy, applicants below 3.0 may still be considered based on the strength of their overall application.
• At least three letters of recommendation from people who can evaluate your academic potential.
• The GRE Test is not required as part of the graduate application for any master's program.
• All applicants must demonstrate English proficiency under the School of Science and Engineering's requirements. Accepted tests include TOEFL iBT, IELTS Academic, and the Duolingo English Test. Applicants who meet SSE's prior-education exemption criteria do not need to submit test scores. English-medium instruction alone does not establish eligibility for this exemption. • A completed application form.

4+1 Accelerated M.S. Program

Current Tulane undergraduate students can earn an M.S. degree with just one additional year of study. This accelerated program allows you to count graduate-level courses toward both your B.S. and M.S. degrees, providing a fast track to an advanced credential.

The 4+1 option is available for the following Mathematics M.S. programs:

• M.S. in Mathematics
• M.S. in Applied Mathematics
• M.S. in Statistics
• M.S. in Data Science
