Tulane SSE Honors Outstanding Faculty Researcher and Showcases Student Research Achievements
On April 11, the Tulane University School of Science and Engineering held its seventh annual Research Day, recognizing the academic contributions and influential achievements of its faculty and students. Held in the Lavin-Bernick Center for University Life, the gathering commenced with a presentation of the Seventh Annual Outstanding Researcher Award to Dr. Lisa Fauci of the Mathematics department, as well as student awards for exceptional research efforts.
First-class Teachers
“The art of teaching is the art of assisting discovery,” wrote Ralph Waldo Emerson. This year’s four outstanding Tulane teachers have proven that art in the classroom. At the annual Unified Commencement Ceremony on Thursday (May 12), these faculty members were singled out as Tulane’s best teachers after nominations by colleagues and students universitywide.
Kids Get "Behind the Scenes" Glimpse of Science
Engaging in interactive demonstrations varying from regenerative medicine to assistive technology that helps disabled persons, 86 students from 16 New Orleans-area middle schools discovered the world of biomedical engineering with a visit to Tulane University.
Students Connect With LEGO and Climate
Just as Tulane students have done since 2004, four Tulane students are helping elementary-age school children prepare for a FIRST LEGO League competition. But this year the intense coaching has a twist: They are coaching in French as well as English.
