Tulane’s Nicholas Mattei Elected Chair of ACM SIGAI
We’re thrilled to announce that Nicholas Mattei, Associate Professor of Computer Science at Tulane University and longtime SIGAI volunteer, has been re-elected Chair of the ACM Special Interest Group on Artificial Intelligence (SIGAI) for the 2025–2028 term beginning on July 1.
SIGAI, the Association for Computing Machinery’s special interest group dedicated to AI research and outreach since 1966, recently concluded its election. Serving alongside Mattei are:
- Vice‑Chair: Louise A. Dennis, University of Manchester
- Secretary‑Treasurer: Alan Tsang, Carleton University
This election is a clear indicator of Tulane’s pursuit of success and progress: a faculty member will continue to lead SIGAI, reflecting our university’s growing influence in the global AI community. Mattei brings 6 years of previous leadership as SIGAI Chair, and a deep commitment to advancing AI principles in computing research, education, and policy.
In this position, Mattei will shape SIGAI’s direction, foster cross-sector collaboration, and support initiatives like student chapters, conferences, and awards. His tenure aligns with Tulane’s mission to promote innovation and excellence in STEM fields, especially in AI.
