Summer Teacher PD

STEM teachers are invited to participate in Tulane's online teacher professional development this summer! Thanks to the generosity of Shell and The Joe W. and Dorothy Dorsett Brown Foundation, we are offering one 2-day and one 3-day virtual professional development workshops. Each workshop will be a mix of synchronous and asynchronous sessions and will total 6-9 hours of time over the 2 or 3 days. 

June 2021 PD
June 23-25: Integrating Programming Language - Scratch Refresher Virtual PD

Register for the Virtual June PD here! Take your coding skills to the next level as you revisit Scratch, a block-based coding language, and develop engaging projects to take back to your students this fall. The three-day virtual professional development workshop will be a mix of synchronous and asynchronous sessions and will total 9 hours of time. Teachers will receive a $200 stipend upon completion of the PD.

July 2021 PD
July 7-8: Integrating Engineering Practices in Your Science Curriculum - Virtual PD (High School)

Register now for the July Virtual PD here! Join the Tulane Center for K-12 STEM Education team as we explore aspects of the engineering design process and its integration in your high school science classroom. The two-day virtual professional development workshop will be a mix of synchronous and asynchronous sessions and will total 6 hours of time. Teachers will receive a $125 stipend upon completion of the PD.

July 21-22: Explore Coding and Robotics with LEGO® Spike Prime (In-Person!)

Register for the July In-Person LEGO® Coding and Robotics PD here! Join the Center for K-12 STEM Education team as we learn and play with the Lego® Spike Prime robots. Expand your coding skills as you learn to use the Spike Prime app and program the Spike Prime robots. You will also learn about the free LEGO® curriculum available and how to start a First Lego League team at your school. The two-day in-person professional development workshop will total 9-12 hours. Each day will be from 9:00-3:30, including a 30-min. lunch break. Teachers will receive a $150 (9 hours) or $200 (12 hours) stipend upon completion of the PD. June 2020 PD

June 15 - June 19, 2020

Teachers of 3rd through 8th grade students are invited to participate in our online teacher professional development from June 15 – June 19, 2020. Special thank you to the generosity of Capital One, Shell, The Joe W. and Dorothy Dorsett Brown Foundation and Chevron. We are offering an online teacher PD titled "Integrating Programming Language as an Approach to Integrating Science, Technology, Mathematics and Language Arts in the Classroom." This PD will be over the course of one week and will be 3 hours of live sessions (likely Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings) and 6 hours of on-your-own-time independent or group work (total of 9 hours).

  • Participating teachers will receive a $200 stipend upon completion of the PD. Space is limited and preference is given to teachers from majority free or reduced lunch schools.
  • To register, please complete the registration form online here. There is a $20 deposit that will be refunded to teachers upon completion of the PD.

July 7th-8th - Grades 3-5 - *Registration for this PD is now full*

This PD will be over the course of one week and will be 3 hours of live sessions (likely Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings) and 6-7 hours of on-your-own-time independent or group work (total of 9-10 hours). Participating teachers will receive a $200 stipend upon completion of the PD. 

Space is limited and preference is given to teachers from majority free or reduced lunch schools and teachers already slated to teach this fall. The registration is now open for Grades 3-5 PD and Grades 6-8 PD.
