Helen Armer is Senior Director of Knowledge Management at Applied Materials, the world’s largest supplier of semiconductor manufacturing equipment. In this role, she is responsible for developing and capturing knowledge content (methodologies, best practices, models) for Applied Materials’ installed base and for benchmarking the performance of the equipment. Helen is located in Santa Clara, California. During her career at Applied Materials, she has been the global product manager for three product divisions and the Chief Marketing Officer for one product division. As a product manager, one of her key responsibilities was creating the product’s patent strategy and managing the patent portfolio. Prior to becoming a product manager, she worked as a process engineer and a process engineering manager.
Helen received a B.S. in chemical engineering from Tulane in 1980. She also earned a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the University of Houston in 1987, where she specialized in thin film deposition. She has worked in the fields of thin film deposition and semiconductor equipment for 30 years. She holds 28 U.S. patents and several dozen related patents in Europe, Japan, Korea, Singapore, and Taiwan. She has published over twenty five papers.
