Newcomb College students stand next to the Tulane blarney stone after being elected as the court for the St. Patrick’s dance in 1948. Organized by the Engineer's Technological Atelier, an engineering spirit organization, the dance was named for St. Patrick since he is the patron saint of engineering; it was generally held on or around St. Patrick’s Day each year.
