Convergent Research/Faculty & Graduate Program Sustainability

This task force focuses on:​​​​​​  

  • I​ncreasing disciplinary integration and developing strategies to achieve large federally funded centers of excellence.
     
  • The faculty experience, including recruitment, retention and activity. This includes strategy for increased numbers of endowed chairs and startup resources, growing and diversifying federal research support, and strategies to improve diversity among the faculty ranks.
     
  • Graduate program support. Graduate students are key to our scientific and engineering productivity. Tasks include weighing in on new MS program creation, increasing the fellowship support for graduate students, supporting graduate student travel, and improving graduate student recruitment.

Infrastructure

This task force focuses on SSE District Planning. This will include space planning, development for building, naming opportunities, in order to enhance environment for recruitment, retention and student success.
