John received his Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from Tulane in 1986. He went on to attend Southern Methodist University, receiving a Juris Doctor degree in 1989. He practiced law for Busch, Ryan & Seib in Dallas and Milling, Benson, Woodward, Hillyer, Pierson & Miller in New Orleans, focusing on commercial litigation and bankruptcy. He is admitted to the bars of California, Louisiana, and Texas.
In 1996, John received an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin. He co-founded a multi-media real estate marketing start-up, TrueView Marketing Support Systems, which was a pioneer in showing homes for sale on the internet. Building upon his experience in bankruptcy law, in 1999 he founded Debt Exchange Network, Inc., a private company that invested in the distressed debt of companies in bankruptcy. He currently manages a portfolio of diverse investments and resides in San Diego with his wife, Carol.
