George A. Swan, III is a Distinguished Engineering Associate at ExxonMobil Process Research Laboratories, where he has played a major role in refining process development for 33 years.
Mr. Swan earned Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Chemical Engineering at Tulane. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Louisiana. In 2005, he was elected a Fellow of the American Instititute of Chemical Engineers. He has been awarded 38 U.S. patents and 74 foreign patents on advanced process and catalyst technology, and has provided technical leadership for new technology application in ExxonMobil affiliate refineries in the United States, Europe, and Canada. Mr. Swan is also a member of ExxonMobil’s professional employee recruiting team.
Mr. Swan received the Harold A. Levey Award of the Tulane School of Engineering in 1981 and the Outstanding Alumnus Award in 2005. He is past President of the Society of Tulane Engineers and also served a term on the Board of Directors of the Tulane Alumni Association. He is past chairman of the New Orleans Section of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. Mr. Swan was elected to the School of Engineering Board of Advisors in 1990.
