Landscape evolution studies attempt to understand how the surface of the earth has changed over time by combing through the signals that are left in the landscape today. I am trying to understand the extent to which landslides impact landscape evolution (i.e. how they shape the surface over time). Specifically, I want to understand how hurricane triggered landslides express themselves in the landscape and what this implies for landscape evolution in landslide dominated and hurricane prone regions. In order to do this I'll be mapping landslides in Puerto Rico caused by hurricane Maria using a variety of remote sensing and field work techniques.
