TSSP Summer Program: How to Apply

The Tulane Science Scholars Program (TSSP) is a selective program for high school students who have exceptional talent in the sciences and mathematics. This year's summer program includes nine courses, more information about these courses is available here.

Each course is offered for three hours of Tulane credit which may be transferable to another university. Tuition is $1750 for a two-week course and is due upon acceptance into the program. Unfortunately we are unable to accept tuition waivers provided by the university to family members of Tulane faculty and staff. Need-based tuition scholarships are available for Louisiana residents through the generosity of anonymous donors.

Applicants should currently be in the 10th or 11th grade (in an extraordinary case, a 9th grader will be considered) and have a strong interest in science and mathematics. Applications for the 2019 summer TSSP will open in January! Applications will remain open until each course is full.

To complete the application you must have the following items prepared:

1. Essay: Please answer the following questions to the best of your ability (300 word minimum)

  • What initiated your interest in science and/or engineering?
  • What types of activities have you previously participated in that will enable you to be successful in this program?
  • How do you think you will benefit from this program?

2. School Transcript: Upload a copy of your transcript (official or unofficial)

3. Recommending Teacher: You must supply the name and email address for a teacher who will complete a recommendation on your behalf. Your teacher will be contacted by the TSSP after you submit your application.

Please email tssp@tulane.edu with any questions regarding the application process.
