Tulane University Tenure-Track Positions

The Department of Mathematics at Tulane University invites applications for three tenure-track positions to begin in the fall 2020. Applicants at the Assistant Professor level are preferred but applicants at the Associate Professor level may also be considered. We seek candidates who have established or have demonstrated the potential for a strong record of independent research and are committed to excellence in teaching.

We seek to fill positions in the following general areas:

  1. Computational Mathematics. We seek candidates in all areas of computational mathematics and numerical analysis, who will enhance our Department’s current research, known for modeling and simulation of biological systems.
  2. Pure Mathematics. We seek candidates whose work makes connections to our department’s active research in Algebra, Combinatorics, Number Theory, Topology, and related areas.
  3. Mathematical Statistics. We especially encourage applications from candidates whose research includes a methodological component and who have an interest in interdisciplinary collaboration.

In all cases, the successful candidates will be expected to (1) develop and carry out a program of research and other scholarly activities; and (2) teach and advise students at the undergraduate, masters, and doctoral levels.

Applications should be submitted electronically through Interfolio at apply.interfolio.com/68848 and must include a standard AMS cover sheet, curriculum vita, four or more letters of reference (at least one of which directly addresses teaching), and separate statements on teaching philosophy and research program.

Application review will begin on November 1, 2019.

The Mathematics Department faculty at Tulane University consists of 20 tenured faculty members whose interests span a broad range of fields in pure and applied mathematics as well as statistics, and 4 Professors of Practice.
